Bison Caravan is a social sculpture in which a group of art works representing the image of the bison, travel the world. Where the herd stops to graze, an exhibition with festival will take place in which local artists and musicians are invited to join the herd by donating a work of art that represents or relates to the bison.
Conceptualized by Hilarius Hostede (1965 NL), Bison Caravan combines the spirit of art and music, life and nature in an unpredictable, timeless trail where artworks united by spirit, caravaneer through the different continents of our world, unifying, but at the same time defying borders and separations created over the history of time.

OPEN CALL FOR COLLABORATIVE ART PROJECTS
Bison Caravan is coming to Rio! Bison Caravan is a migrating group show celebrating the equality of all. After several exhibitions in Europe and one in Africa (Mali), we invite Brazilian artists to become part of Bison Caravan by creating a buffalo artwork and add it to the expanding herd. Brazilian artists are welcome to come together in collaboration to create an exciting and relevant group show in which the artists contemplate on the global dialogue of art, culture and nature through the image of the bison. Globalism versus the importance of indigenous culture is a subject we would like to investigate.
The creative collaboration will take place at
DESPINA, LARGO DAS ARTES, Rio de Janeiro, 7-10 March 2017, 13h-17h
